In recent days, significant progress has reportedly been made regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma’s transfer to Manchester City.
Idman.biz cites Alfredo Pedulla from Football Italia reporting that negotiations between City and PSG are moving positively, with the parties approaching an agreement.
Pedulla notes that there has been noticeable progress in discussions about the transfer fee for Donnarumma, which is expected to fall below the initially high price PSG demanded.
The French club had originally set a price range of €45–50 million for the Italian goalkeeper, but Manchester City was not willing to pay that much.
Currently, PSG is looking to sell Donnarumma and reduce its high wage burden, making them ready to significantly lower the fee.
Donnarumma has become one of City’s primary transfer targets amid questions over Ederson’s future. Although the Brazilian goalkeeper has served the club well, it appears he is no longer Pep Guardiola’s first choice. Pedulla adds that Galatasaray is interested in signing Ederson, and negotiations regarding this transfer are ongoing.
If the transfer goes through, Donnarumma could be a significantly superior option to Ederson. Meanwhile, 22-year-old English goalkeeper James Trafford also joined City this summer.
