Four Azerbaijani boxers reach World Championship Quarters

The 1/8 finals have commenced at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championship in Budva, Montenegro.

According to Idman.biz, four Azerbaijani boxers competing in this round secured victories to advance to the quarterfinals.

Bilalhabashi Nazarov (48 kg) faced Jair Bonilla from Ecuador. Winning each of the three rounds, Nazarov claimed a decisive 5:0 victory (30:26, 30:26, 30:26, 30:26, 30:26). He will next face Angel Sober Ruiz from Cuba.

Zidan Humbatov (51 kg) also progressed to the quarterfinals, defeating Mateusz Szczoczarz (Poland) with a 5:0 score (30:27, 30:26, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). Humbatov’s next opponent will be Meroj Sufijonov from Tajikistan.

Omar Aslanli (54 kg) showcased his strength against Bayirzhan Muratov from Kazakhstan, winning 4:1 (28:28, 29:27, 27:29, 29:27, 28:28). Aslanli will go up against Sobirjon Tastanov from Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals.

Ali Abdullayev (63.5 kg) claimed his third consecutive victory, defeating Ruslan Gafurov from Tajikistan with a 5:0 score (29:28, 29:27, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28). Abdullayev’s next match will be against Emmanouil Fotiadis from Greece.

Additionally, three more Azerbaijani boxers will compete in the 1/8 finals.
