The Azerbaijani national team, which successfully represented Azerbaijan in the European championship among young boxers in Poreč, Croatia, has returned home.

Idman.biz reports that the team was welcomed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by representatives of the sports community, boxers and family members of athletes.

The head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, Elbrus Rzayev, called the European Championship a success for his team: "Our team won 2 gold medals. Our boxers Bilalhabashi Nazarov and Omar Aslanli defeated all their opponents and sang the Azerbaijani national anthem in Croatia. As a result, our boys' team took the 3rd place in the team score at the European Championship. Our other boxers also had chances. We will work on the shortcomings. The next goal will be the world championship, which will take place in November. We will also try to train strong boxers for the national team consisting of adults."

European champion Bilalhabashi Nazarov (48 kg) said that he had no difficulty in any fight because he prepared very well for the competition: "I won confidently in each of the 4 fights. The world championship awaits us ahead. I will try to repeat the success I achieved in the continental championship."
The other Azerbaijani boxer, Omer Aslanli (54 kg), who won a gold medal in Poreč, said that he was happy because he sang the Azerbaijani anthem in Croatia: "I easily defeated my Ukrainian opponent in the final. However, my match with the English opponent, whom I fought in the quarter-finals, was somewhat difficult. I am glad that even though it was difficult I won. I want to succeed in the world championship in November."

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team, which won 2 gold medals at the European Championships, was 3rd after Ukraine and England.
