UWW evaluated the chances of Azerbaijani wrestlers in the first competition of the year

The World Wrestling Union (UWW) has published an article about the first competition of the year Zagreb Open to be held in Croatia.

Idman.biz reports that the main favorites in freestyle and Greco-Roman types have been announced in the article.

UWW has American Jason Nolf as the main favorite in the freestyle at 74 kg. One of his main rivals is our athlete Jabrail Gadjiev.

Since Haji Aliyev did not win the Olympic license at the 65 kg World Championship, Ziraddin Bayramov's chances have increased in this weight and it was brought to attention that the young athlete was given a chance in this competition.

Osman Nurmagomedov, who won the silver medal of the world championship at 92 kg, tried his strength at 86 kg, and the organization did not miss it. They mentioned that our representative is the main favorite and Rahim Magomadov (France), Vladdimeri Gamkrelidze (Georgia), Azamat Dualetbekov (Kazakhstan), Osman Gochen (Turkiye), Zahid Valencia and Chandler Marsteller (both USA) are the main rivals.

Azerbaijani wrestlers are also among the favorites in Greco-Roman. UWW does not rule out a repeat of the final of the last world championship in the 67 kg category. It is expected that Hasrat Jafarov will get revenge from Luis Orta (Cuba), whom he lost in the final.

The competition between Islam Abbasov and Rafig Huseynov in 87 kg was not overlooked. It has been brought to attention that Huseynov, who is a two-time world champion, has changed his weight.

Sanan Suleymanov's main opponent in the 72 kg class is the French world champion Ibrahim Ganem.

Murad Lokyayev and Murad Ahmadiyev, who wrestle at 97 kg, are rivals at this weight.

Among the favorites are Nihat Mammadli at 60 kg and Sabah Shariati and Beka Kandelaki at 130 kg.

It should be noted that 28 of our wrestlers will compete for medals in the competition to be held on January 10-15.
