“The hosting of the Grand Prix figure skating tournament in Azerbaijan is another success for our sports,” said Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov in a statement to journalists, Idman.biz reports.
The minister noted that this prestigious competition for youth is a sign of Azerbaijan’s growing sports reputation. “This tournament is an important achievement for the country’s sports. Last week, we successfully hosted the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Formula 1, and ahead of us are the III CIS Games. President Ilham Aliyev’s attention and care for sports are always felt. We are confident that such events will continue to be organized frequently in the future,” he said.
The Grand Prix figure skating tournament began today and will conclude on September 26.
