The Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency arranged the scientific-practical conference "Towards the Olympic Championship: National and Global Perspectives on Clean Sports" and its opening ceremony.
Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sports (ASAPES), Executive Director of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (ANADA), Tahmina Taghi-zada, and Chairman of the ANADA Athletes Advisory Commission, Ilham Zakiyev, were all present, according to Idman.biz.
Prior to the ceremony, the Republic of Azerbaijan's National Anthem was played.
Farid Gayibov, who opened the event with his opening speech, said that he hopes that the conference will be interesting for everyone: "I would like these conferences to be organized continuingly in our country. Making our people healthier is our main goal. The ministry implements several initiatives in this regard. To promote sports, we need celebrities. We always try to keep our sport clean. For this we need to create a certain circle. Our work continues in this direction by the state and the ministry. It's an Olympic year. Our conference is also dedicated to the Olympics. An event will be organized for our sportsmen in Guba, our sports capital. Our job is to learn and develop."
Later, Rector of ASAPES, Fuad Hajiyev, said that sports policy is an important factor in our country: "Today, we fight together against anti-doping in our sport. In cooperation with ANADA, we always work towards the proper education of our athletes. We have signed a memorandum with ANADA. There are important issues before us. More than 1,700 graduates start working in the field of sports per year. Our large army is the bearer of pure sports ideology. The people who properly organize our sport are our graduates."
Executive director of ANADA, Tahmina Taghi-zada, talked about the proper development and education of healthy sports: "Today we will hold responsible discussions. We have gathered to emphasize the importance of joint efforts in the fight against doping. We can create fair conditions for athletes. I would like to thank everyone who supported the organization of the conference. They did not spare their support".
Ilham Zakiyev, the chairman of the ANADA Sportsmen's Advisory Commission, emphasized that we have always tried to win clean victories: "Azerbaijani athletes have always supported fair and correct victories. I have been a participant and winner of many Summer Paralympic Games. I am currently preparing for the Paris-2024 Summer Paralympic Games to be held in France. The last Paralympic Games took place 1 year later. Many may view this as a negative. But I think that in those years our victorious army won our great victory. This historical victory of ours gave great enthusiasm to all the athletes."
After the official speeches, the conference was declared open.
