Azerbaijan competes in six sports at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

Today, Azerbaijani athletes will compete in six sports at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to Idman.biz, in weightlifting, Nuray Abilova (48 kg), Seljan Qarayeva (53 kg), Amin Osmanov (60 kg), and Fuad Hasanov (65 kg) will take part.

In judo, athletes competing for medals include Konul Aliyeva (48 kg), Gultac Mammadaliyeva, Aydan Valiyeva (both 52 kg), Fidan Alizade (57 kg), Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg), and Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg).

In swimming, Vlastilina Khasyanova, Ogtay Huseynov, Maryam Sheykhalizadekhangah, Ramil Velizade, Anastasiya Boborikina, Said Hamidov, Maryam Javadova, Abdurrahman Rustamov, Fatime Alkaremova, and Yegor Maynitski will showcase their skills. The team will also compete in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay.

Azerbaijani boxers Mammadali Gasimzade (60 kg), Serkhan Aliyev (70 kg), and Saidcamshid Jafarov (80 kg) will compete in the quarterfinals.

The national futsal team will face the host Saudi Arabian team in the next group stage match, starting at 19:00 Baku time.

Azerbaijan’s table tennis team will also go up against the Saudi Arabian squad.

Overall, Azerbaijan is represented by 179 athletes across 20 sports at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games. In total, 57 countries are competing for medals in 23 sports.

The closing ceremony of the Games is scheduled for November 21.
