“Araz-Nakhchivan” is superior to “Aris” (Greece), whom they will face today in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round.
Idman.biz reports that this was stated in an interview with Report by the former head coach of the Nakhchivan team, Azar Bagirov.
The specialist said the club made good transfers during the summer break: “The match between ‘Zira’ and ‘Hajduk’ showed that it is possible to play against all opponents. It’s just necessary to choose the right tactics. The most important thing is to prepare the team psychologically for victory. I have very good thoughts about ‘Aris’. At the same time, the transfers and friendly matches recently conducted by ‘Araz-Nakhchivan’ show that the team is seriously prepared. I believe ‘Araz-Nakhchivan’ can beat this opponent. At least, it is possible to win at home in Azerbaijan. Basically, during the summer break, ‘Araz-Nakhchivan’ made the best transfers in the country. I think the Nakhchivan team is superior.”
He also touched on the opponent’s transfers: “Both sides want to pass the round and strengthen their weak points. We will see the level of the players ‘Aris’ has signed in today’s match. ‘Araz-Nakhchivan’ has spent more time preparing. They parted ways with Vadim Abdullayev from the previous squad but kept all other players.”
The coach emphasized that the low number of fans might affect the game: “The presence of fans can affect the team’s play. My close friends and I will go to support ‘Araz-Nakhchivan’ today. Football without fans is not football. The team would get more support playing at home. I’ve seen this when I worked at ‘Araz-Nakhchivan’.”
The “Araz-Nakhchivan” vs “Aris” match will kick off today at 20:00 at Dalga Arena.
