PSG striker Ousmane Dembele, one of the main candidates for this year's Ballon d'Or, has revealed the reason for his prolific performance.
28-year-old French footballer scored 33 goals and provided 15 assists in 49 club matches in the 2024/25 season, Idman.biz reports.
In an interview with France Football, he said that the "number nine" (center forward) and the right wing forward do not have the same function: "When you are in front of the goal as a number nine, you get tired less, you are on the penalty area line. In addition, when I touch the ball, I have to pass one or two defenders before I can pass or score. However, when you play as a right-wing striker, you have players like striker, left-back, midfielder, central defender in the front line... you are in front of the goal and you pass to them.
Since the beginning of the season, I start every game by telling myself that I will score three goals. Then even when I score one or two goals, I consider it a good result."
