Azerbaijan national team member Mahir Emreli will leave Germany’s 2. Bundesliga club Nürnberg this summer. The club’s official website announced yesterday that his expiring contract will not be renewed.
Idman.biz, citing Futbolinfo.az, reports that Mahir will not be leaving Germany.
The reason for his departure from Nürnberg is his desire to play for a stronger club. Another German club, Bundesliga side St. Pauli, is interested in signing the forward. However, they first need to secure their place in the top division. St. Pauli is currently 14th in the league standings, just five points clear of the relegation zone.
Mahir Emreli will make his decision based on whether the Hamburg-based club manages to stay in the league. If they avoid relegation, he is expected to sign a contract with them.
According to other reports, another Bundesliga club is also in talks with Mahir. However, the national team player is expected to make his final decision at the end of the season.
