Alexander Isak: “Not going to lie, that gets to me”

Alexander Isak expresses frustration after the disallowed goal and missed opportunities in Azerbaijan win

Sweden’s striker Alexander Isak expressed his frustration in a recent interview with local media.

As reported by Idman.biz, he reflected on his team’s 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan in the UEFA Nations League, specifically commenting on the disallowed goal he scored in the 45+2 minute. Isak felt the decision was unjust, saying, “How is this possible? This is probably one of the worst things I’ve seen. It was painful. If you have VAR, and you can watch the replay ten times, something like this shouldn’t happen. I don’t think there was offside in that moment; the line wasn’t drawn correctly.”

Despite Sweden’s commanding victory, Isak admitted disappointment at not scoring himself, stating, “In matches at this level, I’ve never experienced anything like this. There were so many missed chances, but this was completely different. I even had a chance to score from a penalty, but I missed that opportunity too. It’s obviously frustrating.”

Following this loss, Azerbaijan’s relegation to League D in the Nations League was confirmed.
