The punishment of Dani Alves, former player of the Brazilian national team and Barcelona, has been announced.
Idman.biz reports that the Barcelona court sentenced the defender, who was found guilty of sexual violence, to 4.5 years in prison.
The prosecutor's office asked for a 9-year prison sentence for Alves, who can be sentenced to a maximum of 12 years. The player's lawyers have the right to appeal to the Catalan Supreme Court, followed by the Spanish Supreme Court.
Alves was punished for raping a girl in a nightclub in Barcelona on December 31, 2022. He was detained on January 20, 2023. Dani will pay 150,000 euros moral compensation to the 23-year-old victim.
It should be noted that the defender won the Spanish champion, the Champions League, the national cup, and the Super Cup 6 times during his years playing for Barcelona.
