Cristiano Ronaldo eyes sixth World Cup as he approaches 41

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to compete in his sixth World Cup in the United States, Mexico, or Canada.

Idman.Biz reports that since his debut in Germany 2006, he has never missed a tournament, and at nearly 41, this summer appears likely to be his last. “My last World Cup? Yes, surely, I’ll be 41, and I think that will be the moment, though I don’t know… I’m enjoying this moment,” Ronaldo joked during a videoconference from Portugal’s camp in Oeiras, Lisbon, at the Saudi TOURISE tourism forum.

The Madeira star also addressed retirement rumors, clarifying, “Retiring soon? That will happen in ten years. People think when I say ‘soon’ it means six months or a year — I’m joking! When you reach a certain age, you start counting months fast.”

Ronaldo, who has scored eight World Cup goals, aims to help Portugal secure qualification in the November break, needing at least a win against Ireland in Dublin or Armenia at Do Dragao. Despite his age, he insists he is in good form, continuing to score with Al Nassr and the national team.

Having renewed with Al Nassr until 2027, Ronaldo is focused on reaching 1,000 career goals. “I try to enjoy scoring. I’m 40 and try to enjoy the moment and keep going. My body feels good, I think. With the national team, I score goals and help the team. I want to win titles. This is my life,” he concluded.
