The winter champions of the 2025/26 Misli Premier League have been determined. According to Idman.Biz, citing the official website of the Professional Football League (PFL), the outcome was finalized after the last match of 2025.
In the 16th round, Sabah defeated Sumgayit (3:1) away from home, a result that allows the Baku-based side to enter the New Year at the top of the standings.
With 37 points, Sabah finished the first part of the season one point ahead of Qarabag, who had been winter champions for the previous four consecutive seasons. This marks the first time in the club’s history that Sabah has claimed the title of winter champions.
Sabah became the 10th club to finish a year at the top of the Premier League table. The previous new winter champion before this season had been recorded 17 years ago, in the 2008/09 campaign.
Notably, during the first season of the Premier League held under the PFL banner, Inter (now known as Shamakhy) became winter champions for the first time in their history. In the seasons that followed, no new clubs managed to add their names to the list, with only former winter champions repeating the achievement.
Overall, nine clubs had previously claimed the winter champion title, with Sabah now becoming the 10th. Qarabag leads the list with 11 titles, followed by Neftchi with nine. Kapaz and Shamakhy have each achieved the feat three times, while Khazri, Shamkir, Karvan, Khazar Lankaran, and Shuvalan have all done so once.
It should also be noted that the 1992 and 1993 seasons were played under a spring–autumn system.
