Murad Mammadov: "Sports before health" – VIDEO

"If I take care of my health, I can't continue with this injury."

This was said by Murad Mammadov, the Greco-Roman wrestler of the Azerbaijani national team, who was a guest of the Idman Bizde program.

The 28-year-old wrestler who won the title of European champion in 63 kg in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, achieved this success despite being injured. Mammadov said that he did not want to undergo surgery in order not to miss the chance to participate in the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games: "In Tokyo-2020, I lost my license 13 seconds before the end. I was defeated by a German wrestler. If I have surgery, I will be out of competition for a while. I don't want that either. We will talk to the doctors again. Of course, this injury is dangerous for my health. But I think that for us, sport comes before health."

It should be noted that Mammadov was injured in the first competition of the year, Zagreb Open.
