Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg), a member of the Azerbaijani national team in Greco-Roman wrestling, told Idman.biz.
Evaluating 2023, the wrestler said that he was not completely satisfied with his performance: "I don't consider the year completely successful for me. In the first half of 2023, I could not achieve the desired results. But later I performed more successfully and won a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. I got this right by taking two places in the World Championship. That moment was unforgettable for me."
The 26-year-old wrestler also spoke about 2024. Suleymanov expressed his desire to succeed in the European Championship and the Olympics: "Next year, my goal is to become the European Champion for the second time. Then the Olympic Games await us. Like every athlete, I dream of becoming an Olympic champion. The competition at my weight class is huge. There are no easy opponents in the Olympics. Among them, I can mention Kyrgyz Akjol Mahmudov. He is considered one of the main favorites in our weight class. As there are no weak athletes at the Olympic Games, I will treat every opponent seriously."
It should be noted that Suleymanov won a silver medal in the 2023 world championship in the capital of Serbia. He lost to Akjol Mahmudov in the final.
