Russian wrestlers refused to participate in Paris-2024
Idman.biz reports that the decision was made by the Russian Sports Wrestling Federation.
The Executive Committee of the institution considered it expedient not to go to the French capital after the meeting with coaches and athletes. Such a decision was made by the steps of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The IOC previously did not allow most wrestlers, even the Russians, who were the leaders of some weights, to the qualifying tournaments. Despite this, wrestlers performing in neutral status won licenses in 16 out of 18 weights. However, the IOC allowed only 10 of those 16 licensees to participate in Paris. Russians who disagree with this decision consider it right to boycott Paris-2024.
The Olympic wrestling competitions will be held on August 5-11.
