The European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) Congress started its work in Baku.

According to Idman.biz, up to 40 representatives from 15 countries are participating in the "Fair Play Education to eliminate racism in sports" Congress.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Mariana Vasileva, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Azer Aliyev, Chairman of the NOC Fair Games Commission Khazar Isayev, President of the European Fair Play Management Philippe Housiaux and President of the European Olympic Academy Manfred Laemmer took part in the event.

Speaking later, NOC General Secretary Azer Aliyev said that Baku has hosted many sports events in recent years. He said that Azerbaijani sportsmen have participated in a number of prestigious international events: "The Congress of the European Fair Games Movement is being held in our country for the third time."
Afterwards, the president of the European Fair Games Management, Filip Huzyu, presented a special gift to Azer Aliyev.

The president of the European Fair Games Management, Philippe Housiaux, said that sports values are respected not only among athletes, but also among managers. He said that he watched the Belgium-Azerbaijan game from the stadium within the framework of the EURO-2024 qualifying a few days ago. The official of the institution presented to AFFA the special uniform of the Belgian national team with the inscription "Baku-2023" on it.

The president of the European Olympic Academy, Manfred Leimer, stressed that he has witnessed frightening trends in international sports. He condemned the use of sports as a tool in cold wars: "Applications for the organization of games in 2036-2040 do not comply with the principles of the International Olympic Committee. The European Fair Play Movement has been active for 30 years. Of course, injustices in sports have happened several times over the years. But no one can turn us away from our path."

Khazar Isayev, chairman of the NOC Fair Play Commission, expressed his pleasure to see all the guests in Baku and greeted everyone. He reminded the attention of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to sports and said that this policy is being successfully continued: "During the years 2009-2015, several events in this format were organized in our country. This is a clear example of the attention and care paid to sports by the head of the country, Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan is one of the European countries that actively participates in this issue."

In the end, a video clip reflecting the sports memories of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was shown.

After that, reports of local and international representatives on the topic were heard.
