Elected deputy from Nizami (Ganja) Second Constituency, Hamzayev said that he welcomed the announcement of Ganja as the sports capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2025.
According to him, preparations are already being made in the city that will host the III CIS Games next year: "There are many gyms here that meet international standards. In Ganja, the foundation of the stadium was also established by the head of the country. This means that we will witness the inauguration of the stadium that meets the requirements of modern times and conforms to international standards right before the 3rd CIS Games. The presence of the Olympic Sports Complex in Goygol near Ganja and other sports complexes in neighboring areas proves that we are able to host prestigious events. I believe that we will host the CIS Games in a very exemplary manner. Ganja has experience, as this city has hosted many international competitions. We believe that we will cope with this as well. Ganja was the youth capital of Europe in 2016. On this eve, many international, local and regional events were organized in our city. In 2017, Ganja was chosen as the cultural capital of the CIS, and in 2019, it was chosen as the Sports City of Europe. Considering all this, Ganja has good experience."
It should be noted that Ganja was declared the sports capital at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS held in Minsk.
