The children's Kudo team of the Koshiki Karatedo Federation, operating under the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, successfully performed at the European Championship held in Malta.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijan national team was represented by 5 athletes in the competition attended by 14 countries.
Zeynab Movsumzade, Mirrauf Alizade, Murad Akhundov, Ismayil Naghiyev and Javid Mammadov participated in the competition under the guidance of head coach Nazim Movsumzade.
Among them, Zeynab Movsumzade (43 kg) won the gold medal after defeating athletes from Malta in the semi-final and Ukraine in the final.
Ismayil Naghiyev (32 kg) was awarded with a special prize (diploma and cup) for the best technique he demonstrated in the championship.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan was represented in the European Championship by 2 judges - Rashad Guliyev and Sevinj Movsumzade.
