Azerbaijan’s judo star and national team leader, Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg), has seen his impressive winning streak on the international stage come to an end.
The Olympic champion had remained unbeaten for 21 consecutive matches over the past 18 months, Idman.biz reports.
His remarkable run included victories at the Grand Slam in Baku, the European Championships in Zagreb, the World Championships in Abu Dhabi, and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
However, the streak was broken at the World Championships held in Budapest, where Heydarov suffered a first-round defeat to Otari Kvantidze of Portugal.
