The Judo World Youth Championship continues in Odivelas, Portugal.
Idman.biz reports that on the second day of the competition, the winners were determined in 3 weight classes.
Female judokas competed in 57 and 63 kg, and boys in 73 kg. Members of the Azerbaijan national team were represented in 2 of these weight classes. Vusal Qalandarzada scored the highest result. He wrestled the American Jack Yonezuka in a decisive match and won the world championship. As a result of this victory, Vusal won the World Champion title for Azerbaijan after 5 years.
It should be noted that on the first day of the World Cup, Nizami Imranov (60 kg) won a silver medal as part of the Azerbaijan national team.

Suleyman Aliyev joined the competition from the 1/32 final stage. Azerbaijani judoka started the World Championship with a victory against Max Laishram from India. In his second match, he faced Giorgi Terashvili (Georgia) and lost.
Vusal Galandarzada, who made his debut in the 1/16 finals of the World Championship, played his first match against Fabrizio Esposito (Italy). Azerbaijani judoka won a convincing victory. He then defeated Giorgi Loladze (Georgia) and Eliot Prevy (France) and advanced to the semi-finals. Qalandarzada continued his successful series at this stage and won over Adilet Almat (Kazakhstan).
Vusal wrestled with American Jack Yonezuka in the final and won.

Fidan Alizada started the fight from the 1/16 finals. He lost to Japanese Rico Honda in his first match and bid farewell to the World Cup.
