Final round of Premier League to be needed?

The Misli Premier League could see a rare scenario this weekend—where the final round becomes completely meaningless.

The results of Matchday 35, which kicks off tomorrow and spans two days, could lock in the final league standings ahead of the 36th round, Idman.biz reports.

For that to happen, all five matches this weekend would need to produce a precise set of outcomes—unlikely, but not impossible.

A draw between Sumgayit and Turan Tovuz would secure 4th place for Turan and hand the bronze medal to Araz-Nakhchivan, simultaneously ending Sabah’s hopes of finishing 4th.

If Sabah beats Zira, their 5th place would be confirmed—especially if Turan only gets one point.

This scenario would dash Neftchi’s hopes for 5th, locking them into 6th, regardless of their match against Sabail.

Shamakhi, with a win over Araz-Nakhchivan, would clinch 7th place.

The most challenging outcome involves Kapaz defeating Qarabag to secure 8th place—something they haven’t achieved in years.

If all these results align—Sumgayit vs. Turan ends in a draw, and Sabah, Neftchi, Shamakhi, and Kapaz all win—the table would be finalized, rendering Matchday 36 irrelevant in terms of placement.

Projected standings in that case:

  1. Qarabag – 83 pts
  2. Zira – 70 pts
  3. Araz-Nakhchivan – 55 pts
  4. Turan Tovuz – 50 pts
  5. Sabah – 47 pts
  6. Neftchi – 43 pts
  7. Shamakhi – 39 pts
  8. Kapaz – 35 pts
  9. Sumgayit – 31 pts
  10. Sabail – 22 pts

While a complete lock-in still seems improbable—especially with all top-three teams losing on the same matchday—this weekend could significantly reduce the final round’s competitive weight.
