Barcelona are considering the possibility of signing Joao Cancelo during the winter transfer window.
According to İdman.Biz, the information was reported by well-known insider Fabrizio Romano. The Portuguese right-back has decided to leave Al Hilal and continue his career in Europe.
Inter are also said to be competing for Cancelo’s signature. However, journalist Carlos Monfort reports that Barcelona have already closely studied the details of a potential transfer, noting that the deal looks extremely difficult due to the player’s high salary.
Currently, the 31-year-old defender earns around 15 million euros per year in Saudi Arabia. According to rumors, Cancelo prefers to continue his career in Catalonia, and a return to Barcelona would only be possible if Al Hilal agree to continue covering a significant part of his wages.
For reference, Cancelo joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023 and spent the 2023–2024 season with the club on loan. The Catalan side ultimately decided not to make the transfer permanent.
