FIFA has approved a new regulation for the 2026 World Cup: each match will include two additional three-minute water breaks.
As reported by Idman.biz, tournament chief coordinator Manolo Zubiria announced this in an interview with FIFA’s official website. The breaks will be implemented regardless of climate conditions, stadium location, or kickoff time. The aim is to improve player safety and reduce physical strain amid a tight schedule and high-intensity matches.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will begin on June 11, and the final match will take place on July 19. A total of 48 national teams will participate.
