The European championship among school boxers was concluded in Maribor, Slovenia. The Azerbaijani national team finished the 9-day competition with 2 gold and 2 bronze medals.
İdman.biz informs that Shahin Aslanov won the title of European champion as a part of the national team. Our boxer fighting in the 52 kg category defeated Nikolay Nikolayev (Bulgaria) in the final. He won the decisive battle with a score of 5:0 (30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27) and won the gold medal.
Saftar Mammadzada, the heaviest boxer in the national team (90 kg), won the title of "the strongest" in Europe. Our representative beat the Ukrainian Yosip-Vladislav Kozakevich in the final with a score of 5:0 (29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 30:26, 29:28) and played the Azerbaijani national anthem in Maribor.
Adil Zalov (63 kg) and Ismayil Valiyev (70 kg) won bronze medals for our team.
The boys’ national team, which won 4 medals in the competition attended by 380 athletes from 32 countries, took the fourth place in Europe. In the competition, boxers from 9 countries experienced the joy of winning the championship. The first place was taken by Ukraine (6-1-5).
It should be noted that in 2022 our team won 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in Turkey, but this time all 2 of our boxers who qualified for the finals left the ring victorious and won the title of champion.
