The 1/4 final stage of the European Boxing Cup has been concluded in Budva, Montenegro.
Idman.biz reports that 2 more members of the Azerbaijan national team advanced to the semi-finals.
After Giuseppe Canonico (Italy), Tayfur Aliyev (60 kg) showed his strength to Arshak Tovmasyan, who represented Russia. Azerbaijani boxer defeated his Armenian opponent with a score of 4:3 and qualified for the semi-finals. He will face France's three-time world champion Sofyan Umia en route to the final.
Tayfur's success was repeated by his brother Sarkhan Aliyev (71 kg). The boxer, who knocked out Tony Jas (IBAN) in the 1/8 finals, faced Miroslav Kapuler (Israel) in his second fight. Sarkhan decided the fate of the fight in the first round and won the match with full advantage. He will face Poland's Damian Durkacz in the semi-finals.
By advancing to the semi-finals, both boxers secured at least a bronze medal for themselves.
It should be noted that along with the Aliyev brothers, 3 more boxers of the Azerbaijan national team will fight for the final. Tural Sariyev (48 kg) will face Artish Soyan (Russia), Malik Hasanov (63.5 kg) Ahmat Shtiwi (Israel), Mirsharif Kazimzade (75 kg) Jambulat Bijamov (Russia) in the semi-finals.
