"The final was not a surprise."
Idman.biz reports that this was said by the head coach of Azerbaijan's women's national karate team, Shahin Khudaverdiyev.
He commented on Irina Zaretska's (68 kg) winning the World Champion title for the 3rd time in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Khudaverdiyev emphasized that the karateka is number 1 in his weight class: "She won all her opponents in the leagues. The battle with the Swiss in the final was difficult. There is a great rivalry between them. We set up the right tactics, watched videos of the opponent. We have analyzed it well. Thanks to that, we won."
The head coach clarified the fact that other female karateka did not win medals: "They are a bit young. They participated in the first World Championships among adults. I believe that in the future, Azerbaijani girls will be best. Since we have few female athletes, it is difficult for us to choose. There are 1-2, maximum 3 girls in each weight. It is difficult to choose between them and become a World Champion."
It should be noted that Irina Zaretska won the 3rd gold medal in a row at the World Championship by defeating Elena Quirici of Switzerland in the final.
