In his statement to the Russian press, he clarified Lunev's perspective in the national team: "We cannot say that Lunev is currently the best Russian goalkeeper. Because he cannot be compared with other goalkeepers. Because Andrey does not play in the Russian Premier League, and our other goalkeepers do not play in European Cups either. Lunev is the best Russian goalkeeper playing abroad. But since our clubs do not play in European Cups, the comparison is not correct. As for whether Andrey will be number 1 in the national team, all the goalkeepers should come together at the Novorogsk meeting. I will watch them in training and talk to them. After that, I will decide who will get a chance in which game, which goalkeeper I will trust."
