Qarabag shows interest in Belgian second division striker

Aghdam’s Qarabag club is reportedly interested in a striker playing in Belgium’s second division.

According to Idman.Biz, citing Africafoot, the Azerbaijani side is monitoring 22-year-old Senegalese forward Umar Diouf.

The young player has stood out this season in Belgium’s Challenger Pro League with RFC Liege.

Diouf is said to be on the radar of several European clubs, including Qarabag, Belgian First Division team Sint-Truiden, and a club from Spain’s second division. RFC Liege has valued the player at €2 million.

Sint-Truiden reportedly offered €1.2 million, but RFC Liege considered the amount insufficient. A Russian club is also said to be interested, though its name has not been disclosed. However, Diouf reportedly does not see Russia as a priority destination.

This season, Diouf has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 17 appearances for RFC Liege. His contract runs until June 30, 2027, with an option for an additional year. He joined the Belgian club after a successful trial in the summer, during which he scored five goals in friendly matches.

Previously, Diouf played for Turkiye’s Rizespor and Northern Cyprus Super League team Genclik Gucu.
