“Qarabag has proven itself in Europe.”
These words were spoken by Shota Arveladze, former player of the Dutch club “Ajax,” while commenting on his ex-team’s UEFA Champions League Group Stage Matchday 6 game against “Qarabag.”
The 52-year-old expert noted that the Amsterdam side is not in great form, giving an advantage to the Azerbaijani champions.
“Ajax has no points in the Champions League and needs to regroup. I wouldn’t say their squad is weak—they have good young players. But in the current situation, Qarabag is in better form. They will play at home, which is an additional advantage. It’s hard to predict the score in advance,” he told AZERTAC.
He also assessed Qarabag’s chances in the Champions League group stage: “Currently, they have seven points. They need to keep earning more. Regardless of the result, reaching this stage is already a great achievement for Qarabag.”
Arveladze revealed that he has received an offer from Azerbaijan once: “It came two years ago from Neftchi.”
