Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov has expressed confidence that the country’s recent achievements in chess will have a lasting impact.
According to İdman.Biz, Gayibov made the remarks during an event organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation to summarize the results of the year. He emphasized the crucial role played by President Ilham Aliyev in the development of chess in the country.
“The support of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev for chess is undeniable. Thanks to the attention and care shown to athletes, significant successes are being achieved,” Gayibov said.
He also highlighted the strong performances of the national teams this year, noting that both the men’s and women’s squads enjoyed successful appearances on the international stage.
“It is not easy to preserve traditions in sport. This year our men’s and women’s national teams performed successfully at international competitions. I believe these achievements will continue,” the minister added.
