- It was a successful year for me. Because I won a medal in every competition I participated in. My hard work was not in vain.
- Which fight would you call the meeting of the year?
- I would single out the fight I won against the Armenian Hambardzum Hakopyan at the II European Games held in Krakow. Thanks to that victory, I advanced to the semi-finals and received a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games.
- What are your goals for the new year?
- I have only one goal. It is to seriously prepare for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games and represent our country in the French capital.
- Have you started working with a special training program for the Olympics, or is there still time?
- We are currently doing physical exercises. Our first training camp will begin on January 13.
- You did not participate in the last Azerbaijan championship. Who would you distinguish in the 80 kg that you fought?
- I did not participate because I had a slight injury. The opponents were in good form. I came across new names. I saw the champion Fagan Mammadov for the first time.
- How many more licenses do you think a national with two licenses can get?
- We need to win 5 more licenses to go to the Olympics with a full team. There are 2 license competitions ahead and 5 boxers will fight for the qualification.
- Considering the fact that Azerbaijan does not have an Olympic Champion in boxing, and taking into account the motto of the local federation "Toward the Olympic gold", do you believe that it will be able to achieve the first?
- Yes, we have never won Olympic gold in boxing. I believe that the champion will emerge from our team and will bring the first to Azerbaijan. The champion will be either me or Muhammad Abdullayev. But it doesn't matter, the main thing is to bring home the first gold medal. Becoming an Olympic champion is not only my biggest dream, but every athlete's dream.
