Azerbaijan national team consisting of women's basketball players will participate in the qualifying round of Eurobasket-2025.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani team will play its first game on November 9 against Lithuania.
The head coach of the team, Evren Alkaya, said that they are seriously preparing for the qualifying games. He explained about the preparation process of the team: "I congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on their victory day. We held a 25-day training camp for the qualifying round of the European Championship in Azerbaijan. Some players could not participate in training because they played for their club. Despite this, we underwent very serious preparation for 25 days. In this period, we tried our strength in 2 preparatory meetings. Now the level of understanding in the team is higher. We also instilled our tactical moves against opponents in the qualifying stage to our basketball players. It will be a really tough tournament. But we are proud to represent Azerbaijan here. We thank the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation for creating conditions for us."
Evren Alkai spoke about the teams we will meet in the qualifying round. The Turkish specialist said that the opponents are strong: "we are waiting for the games against the current European champion Belgium, as well as the Polish and Lithuanian teams, which are close to each other in terms of level. The opponents are very strong. We will play our first game against the Lithuanian national team. We have analyzed the opponent well. We will fight to stop them. We wish to represent Azerbaijan in a worthy manner in the tournament. I trust my team. This is just the beginning. We will do our best to become a stronger team in the coming years. We have to be better in 2025 than we are now."
