Baku football club Sabah has experienced lighting problems at its stadium for the third time in recent years during national championship matches, İdman.biz reports.
As a reminder, the sixth-round match of the Azerbaijan Premier League between Sabah and Sumgayit (1:1), which took place yesterday at Bank Respublika Arena, was interrupted for approximately 15 minutes due to a lighting failure.
This incident is the third such incident involving Sabah in recent memory. On May 9, 2025, during the Sabah-Shamakhi game at the same arena, the floodlights went out twice, interrupting the game for several minutes.
Even earlier, on March 3, 2021, the Neftchi-Sabah match at Bakcell Arena was abandoned in the 27th minute with the score tied 0-0 when the stadium went dark. The pause lasted approximately ten minutes, after which the game resumed.
Considering that the two most recent incidents occurred within a short timeframe (the end of last season and the beginning of the new one) and at the same arena, it can be assumed that Bank Respublika Arena is not in the best condition. If no action is taken, Sabah could face similar force majeure situations again.
