Arsenii Dzhioev: "Azerbaijan became my second home"

“We’re happy to see so many people coming to welcome us-it gives us extra motivation.”

According to Idman.biz, Azerbaijan’s U23 freestyle wrestler Arsenii Dzhioev (86 kg) shared these thoughts after winning a bronze medal at the World Championship in Tirana, Albania. The 22-year-old expressed his commitment to achieving even better results in the future. “This success is a team effort—from the doctors to the coaches, everyone played a part. The national team’s head coach, Khetag Kazimov, has been instrumental, working tirelessly for the development of Azerbaijani wrestling and providing us with all the support we need. I am grateful if I brought joy to you. Azerbaijan has become my second home; everyone here has welcomed me warmly, and I will always be thankful for that."

Dzhioev also noted that he frequently follows news about Azerbaijan, recognizing the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation in opening wrestling schools across various regions, which he sees as a strong incentive for young athletes.

Azerbaijan finished the championship with 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, ranking third overall with 100 points, behind Iran and Japan.
