Barcelona midfielder Rodri has assessed his team's chances of winning the UEFA Champions League this season.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the player believes the Catalan club are capable of claiming European football's biggest club trophy, although he does not consider Barcelona the main favourites.
"Yes, obviously I see this title as achievable. It is, so to speak, the small step we still have to take to consolidate our position and show all of Europe what kind of team we are. But I don't think we are the main favourites," Mundo Deportivo quotes Rodri as saying.
According to the midfielder, Barcelona must remember where the team started and understand that several aspects of their game still need to be refined before they can consistently compete for major trophies.
Rodri also stressed that one of the reasons he joined Barcelona was to help the team develop the qualities required to succeed in competitions such as the Champions League.
"I think the Champions League is not necessarily a tournament won by the objectively best team. It is a tournament of moments. You have to know how to understand those moments, and perhaps that is the experience our team still lacks. But if you ask me whether we have a chance, that's why I came here," he added.
The Champions League remains one of Barcelona's main objectives for the season as the Catalan club look to establish themselves again among Europe's leading teams.
