Cagliari have denied reports claiming that forward Daniel Maldini failed alcohol and drug tests following a car accident in Milan.
As reported by İdman.biz, earlier media reports suggested that the son of former AC Milan star Paolo Maldini had been involved in a road accident and had failed a breathalyser test.
Six people were injured in the collision. One received medical assistance at the scene, while five others were taken to hospital.
Cagliari later issued an official statement rejecting the claims regarding Maldini's test results.
"Following reports that appeared in the Italian media over the past few hours, Daniel Maldini underwent toxicology tests. All the tests carried out returned negative results," the club said in a statement quoted by Football Italia.
Cagliari also confirmed that Maldini would return to the team as normal as the squad resumes preparations for its next match.
The 25-year-old helped Cagliari secure a 2-1 away victory over Atalanta in Serie A on Saturday, September 12.
Cagliari's next match will be away against Udinese on September 19.
