A new type of disciplinary sanction - a black card - is set to be introduced in Romanian football.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the initiative will initially be tested in matches involving young footballers between the ages of seven and 16.
Unlike traditional yellow and red cards, however, the black card is not intended for players. It has been specifically designed to deal with the behaviour of parents watching their children from the sidelines.
Romanian youth football has reportedly faced repeated incidents involving parents becoming aggressive or disruptive during matches. In some cases, spectators have attempted to enter the pitch or confront referees over their decisions.
The black card is intended to provide officials with a formal mechanism to take action against parents and other spectators whose behaviour crosses acceptable boundaries.
The initiative is aimed at creating a safer and more respectful environment at youth matches while reducing pressure on young players, coaches and referees.
