Idman.biz reports that this was said by General Secretary of the Winter Sports Federation Gunel Badalova after the inaugural ceremony of the Heydar Aliyev Cup.
She said that these certificates will create conditions for international competitions, including world championships, to be held in the Shahdag Tourism Center in the future: "All this will help to create a winter sports culture in Azerbaijan. In addition, the Ice Arena for figure skating was opened in the capital last year."
Gunel Badalova, speaking about the achievements of local athletes and the competitions they will participate in, emphasized that the teenage athlete Sabina Aliyeva was awarded the second place in the competition held in Turkiye: "Thus, she qualified for the World Championship. The other Azerbaijani athlete, Viladimir Litvintsev, will take part in the World Championship to be held in Canada at the end of March. We already have a Ski Mountaineering team. They have been participating in competitions since January. The national team consists of local athletes. They will demonstrate their skills in the competition to be held in Rize, Turkiye. Also, our team of young athletes will compete in the World Cup to be held in Germany."
