In 2026, Azerbaijan will welcome the continent’s top winter athletes as it hosts both the European Championship and the World Cup in ski mountaineering.
The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) has approved the application submitted by the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation to hold these prestigious events in the country, Idman.biz reports.
Following the approval, both competitions have been officially added to the ISMF’s international calendar and will take place at the Shahdag Tourism Center, one of Azerbaijan’s premier winter destinations.
Scheduled Dates:
European Championship: March 4–8, 2026
World Cup: March 6–8, 2026
This marks a significant milestone for winter sports in Azerbaijan, highlighting the country’s growing presence on the international sporting stage.
