Carlos Alcaraz secured his 50th win of the 2025 season at the Cincinnati Open, continuing his remarkable form despite tough conditions.
Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the 22-year-old Spaniard defeated Serbian Hamad Medjedovic 6-4, 6-4 in the third round, marking his 13th consecutive Masters 1000 victory. Alcaraz is the first player since Novak Djokovic (2013-16) to achieve 50 wins in four straight seasons.
“I’m really happy that in difficult matches I can still play my best tennis,” said Alcaraz. He will next face Italy’s Luca Nardi in the fourth round.
The tournament has been challenged by hot weather and rain delays, with players like Francisco Comesana and Reilly Opelka requiring medical timeouts. Meanwhile, second seed Coco Gauff advanced without playing after her opponent’s withdrawal.
Alcaraz now sets his sights on the US Open, the season’s final Grand Slam starting August 24.
