Azerbaijani taekwondo athletes have begun their competitions at the Universiade held in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany.
According to the correspondent of Idman.biz sent to Germany, Salima Guliyeva (46 kg) advanced to the next round by defeating Nigerian athlete Shukurat Abdulsalam in her opening match.
However, three other Azerbaijani athletes lost their first fights: Leyla Bashirova (57 kg) was defeated by Hungarian Luca Patakfalvy, Khidir Mammadov (54 kg) lost to Macau representative Iek Hei Chan, and Vagif Hajiyev (68 kg) was beaten by German athlete Jona Porsch.
