New Zealand's Erika Fairweather delivered a powerful response to her shock disqualification in the 400m freestyle by clocking the fastest time in the 200m heats at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

In the men’s 800m freestyle, Tunisia’s Ahmed Jaouadi led the field with 7:41.58, followed by Australia’s Sam Short. Ireland’s Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen and Germany’s Lukas Maertens also secured spots in the final.
Elsewhere, Italy’s Simone Cerasuolo topped the men’s 50m breaststroke heats, and American Luca Urlando led the 200m butterfly.
The evening finals will see stars like Katie Ledecky, David Popovici, Kaylee McKeown, and Kate Douglass compete for five gold medals, including Ledecky’s possible sixth 1,500m title.
