The “Let’s cross the Kura?! 5” open-water swimming event will take place on the Kura River in Mingachevir today.
İdman.Biz reports that the event is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation and the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.
Organised to promote healthy lifestyles and water sports, this year’s event has attracted a record number of participants. A total of 616 swimmers will take part, with the youngest participant aged 12 and the oldest aged 79.
For the first time, the event will feature two distances. Of the participants, 111 will swim 1,000 metres, while 505 will compete over 350 metres.
The event will be held across six age categories for both men and women, with the top three finishers in each category receiving prizes.
The race will start at 13:00.
