Turkish Swimming Federation President Erkan Yalcin has praised Baku for its organization of the European Aquatics Congress, expressing his gratitude to the Azerbaijani authorities and sports officials.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Yalcin made the remarks during the main day of the European Aquatics Congress held in the Azerbaijani capital.
"I am proud to be in Baku. I would like to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation for organizing this congress," he said.
The Turkish official noted that European Aquatics congresses have been held in various countries, but emphasized the particularly high standards demonstrated by Baku as the host city.
"Representatives from 48 countries are attending the congress. I am confident that the decisions made here and the time we spend together will be beneficial. A beautiful and historic city like Baku will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all of us," Yalcin added.
The European Aquatics Congress is taking place in Baku from October 8 to 10, bringing together representatives of national federations, international experts and members of the sporting community.
The event focuses on the development of aquatic sports and broader issues related to improving the sporting environment.
One of the congress's main objectives is to strengthen the implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion and integration (DEI & I) principles within national federations.
Discussions also address the creation of safe and inclusive sporting environments, alongside the exchange of successful experiences and practical approaches among participating countries.
The gathering provides an important platform for cooperation between European aquatic sports federations and reinforces Azerbaijan's role as a host of major international sporting events.
