The Azerbaijan Swimming Federation has begun cooperation with international expert Boro Strumbel to train local specialists and further develop swimming education in the country.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the federation's press service announced that the initiative is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Solidarity programme.
Under the supervision of Strumbel, who headed the Slovenian Swimming Association from 2019 to 2024, work will be carried out on the certification and licensing of coaches and referees, admission and educational processes at the Azerbaijan Sports Academy, as well as the "Learn to Swim" project.
Strumbel is an associate professor at the Faculty of Sport at the University of Ljubljana. He has extensive experience in sports science, sports diagnostics, water safety and coach education.
The expert has also served as chairman and co-chairman of the European Aquatics Learn to Swim Commission. He currently chairs the organisation's Social Responsibility Commission.
