Olympic Games: 14-year-old Arisa Trew wins Olympic skateboard gold

“My parents promised if I won the gold medal I would get a pet duck”

Arisa Trew won skateboarding gold for Australia.

Arisa Trew, who is 14 years and 86 days old, became the Olympic champion, Idman.biz reports.

“My parents promised if I won the gold medal I would get a pet duck, Because they are really cute, then I can take it on walks and take it to the skate park. My parents definitely wouldn’t let me get a dog or a cat because we are travelling so much right now. But I feel like a duck might be a little bit easier, and… I don’t know, I just want a duck. It will just be in my yard and I’ll get a little pool thing for it. It’s super cool that I’ve won the gold medal – it’s been a dream, I’m so excited. It’s a little bit heavier than I thought, but it’s like – beautiful.”

She beat 15-year-old Japanese Cocona Hiraki and 16-year-old British Skye Brown in skateboarding competitions. Arisa was the 9th youngest athlete to win a gold medal in the history of the Olympic Games.

At the age of 13 years 267 days, Marjorie Gestring won the springboard title at the 1936 Berlin Games to become the youngest-ever woman Olympic champion.
