"The flag we raise in international arenas is the flag raised by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, our martyred and veteran brothers."
Idman.biz reports that the Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) told journalists during his visit to the Alley of Honor.
Heydarov said that this is a matter of pride for him: "We have visited the Alley of Honor before. But this visit was completely different. I will always fulfill my duty for the motherland. I waved our flag high in Paris, the capital of France, and I believe that I will always raise it high. My next goal is to become a champion for the second time in Los Angeles 2028 and make history. I want to win the title of Olympic champion twice. Of course, before the Olympics, there are numerous prestigious competitions—European and world championships. I will rest for a while and return to the arenas. I promised myself to fulfill my duty as a champion and bow before the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.”
Heydarov also gave advice to those who are new to sports: "I advise not only Olympic participants but also children who are newly interacted with sports to take us an example. Even if they lose, don't get demotivated. Both Zelym and I have lost competitions. Now my crying videos surfaced. Let them keep all this in mind and always wish from the heart of their hearts. In the end, they will be where they want to be."
Hidayat Heydarov won the title of Olympic champion after defeating the Frenchman Joan-Benjamin Gaba in the final.
