Imamaddin Khalilov: "I will defeat the Mexican in the final and become the Paralympic champion"

"I believed that I would get a license. My place in the ranking created confidence. But after the certificate was issued, I got a little excited."

Imamaddin Khalilov (70 kg), an Azerbaijani Para taekwondo player who won a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Paralympic Games, told Idman.biz.
The World Champion said that he will try to show himself in the best way in the top race of 4 years. According to him, he has already increased his responsibility a little: "We have several competitions ahead of us. The fact that I got a license should not reassure me. On the contrary, my motivation and responsibility increased a bit. My goal is a successful performance at the Paralympics. I believe that we will prepare well under the leadership of our head coach Farid Taghizade. Thanks to these exercises, I will stay in shape and be at my peak level in Paris."

Khalilov also determined who will be his main opponent in Paris: "This is Diego Garcia from Mexico. I lost to the last Paralympic champion. This time, my goal is a gold medal. I trust myself in the stand. "I believe that I will defeat the Mexican in the final and become a champion at the Paralympic Games."

It should be noted that in addition to Khalilov, 2 more Para taekwondo athletes have received a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Paralympic Games. Sabir Zeynalov (58 kg) and Abulfaz Abuzarli (80 kg) will compete for medals.
